<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent data writing/reading from other decoding part or the like in/from a hard disk even when fast forward/rewind is frequently requested to a decoding part for reading out MPEG data from the hard disk and decoding the read data. <P>SOLUTION: A data processing apparatus has a storage device control part for reading out first encoded compression data and first header data including decoding information of the first encoded compression data, a storage part for storing the read first header data and a first decoding part for reading out the first header data from the storage part after storing the first header data in the storage part, and then decoding the first encoded compression data.
