PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric auxiliary device for a power assisted bicycle and an power assisted bicycle capable of using a vehicle body frame of a general bicycle. SOLUTION: The electric auxiliary device 100 is provided with a crank shaft 140 connected to crank pedals 52L, 52R; a sprocket 130 engaged with a chain 60 for transmitting motive power to the power assisted bicycle and rotating the chain 60 along a predetermined track; a sensor side gear 125 fixed to the crank shaft 140; and a motor side gear 115 fixed to the sprocket 130 and engaged with an electric motor 110. A torque sensor 120 is engaged with the sensor side gear 125 and the motor side gear 115, and detects difference of torques of the sensor side gear 125 and the motor side gear 115.
