PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning unit which can uniformly press an absorption sheet onto a nozzle surface and stably remove liquid droplets adhered to the nozzle surface, and to provide a recorder and a cleaning method. SOLUTION: In the cleaning unit which cleans the nozzle surface of a recording head where a plurality of nozzles that eject the liquid droplets are arranged, the cleaning unit is equipped with the absorption sheet which removes the liquid droplets and foreign substances sticking to the nozzle surface by being pressed onto the nozzle surface of the recording head, and a film-shaped non-absorptive elastic member which supports the absorption sheet when the absorption sheet is pressed onto the nozzle surface of the recording head.
