PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an organic thin-film transistor in view of forming, with higher accuracy, an organic semiconductor thin-film having a large carrier mobility by concurrently realizing orientation control of organic semiconductor molecule and possibility of formation of an organic semiconductor thin film. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing organic thin-film transistor including, on a supporting material, a gate electrode, an insulating film, a source electrode, a drain electrode, and an organic semiconductor layer comprises the steps of (1) forming, in a lower density, a self-assembly monolayer to reduce affiliation with an organic semiconductor material on the surface to deposit the organic semiconductor material, (2) forming the same self-assembly monolayer in the density higher than that in the step (1) to the region other than the surface to deposit the organic semiconductor material, and (3) forming an organic semiconductor layer on the self-assembly monolayer of lower density formed in the step (1).
