PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine control system for generating an angle-clock of further higher precision than before. SOLUTION: From the time forward when such a change in the signal level that is to occur at the start of an irregular range has been generated in the crank signal, a reference time for the multiplying clock to be used as a criterion for multiplying clock generation is fixed (reference-time selection→a fixed time) at intervals of the signal-level change measured at the occurrence. On the basis of the value, the angle clock is generated. Thereafter, a signal-level change to occur at the finishing time of the irregular range is generated, and the reference time for the multiplying clock constituting a reference for multiplying clock generation is returned to the space time which is measured by measuring the interval between the signal-level changes in the crank signal (reference-time selection→the space time).
