PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a centrifugal thin-film dryer which can determine optimal bearing exchange timing even when the properties of sludge vary depending upon treatment plants and seasons. SOLUTION: In a centrifugal thin-film dryer 20, a monitoring board 11 detects the temperature of a bearing 8 for supporting a main shaft 2 being rotated with a thermometer 9. The time taken from the time when the detected bearing temperature exceeds a warning value (for example, 50°C) to the time when the bearing temperature exceeds a specified value (for example, 55°C) is measured. When the measured time is a predetermined time (for example, 3 min) or less, a judgment is made to the effect that the bearing exchange timing has arrived. In this case, the operation of the dryer is stopped, and an alarm for bearing exchange is indicated on an indicator 17. According to the above constitution, the bearing exchange timing can be optimally determined even when the properties of the sludge have been varied depending upon the treatment plants and seasons.
