The unit (1) has a zigzagged filter belt (2) formed from a one-piece, continuous filter material and having filter pleats (4, 5) arranged angularly to each other. The belt is attached and connected with an edge unit (3). The end pleat (5) is freely projected over a lateral edge (6) of the edge unit. A projecting part of the end pleat (5) is evenly formed and stays angularly to the edge. An angle between the filter pleat (5) and the edge is different from and larger than an angle between the edge. A preceding filter pleat (4) is arranged on the edge unit.
