APPARATUS AND METHOD OF BROADCASTING CHANNEL CHANGING FOR MULTICAST AND BROADCAST SERVICE IN BROADBAND WIRELESS ACCESS SYSTEM

An apparatus and a method for changing an MBS(Multicast and Broadcast Service) broadcast channel in a broadband wireless access system are provided to reduce a channel zapping time for changing a channel. When a user selects a desired MBS channel through a terminal(500), the terminal transmits an MBS control message to a BS(Base Station)/BSC(Base Station Controller)(501). The BS/BSC recognizes that the message is for selecting a particular MBS channel and performs a BS-init DSC(Dynamic Service Change) procedure(502). The BS/BSC transmits a DSC-REQ(Request) message to the terminal(503). The terminal recognizes that the channel section has been successfully performed and transmits a DSC-RSP(Response) message to the BS/BSC(504) and receives a DSC-ACK(Acknowledge) message from the BS/BSC(505). The terminal of the user transmits an MBS control message to the BS/BSC(506). The BS/BSC recognizes the message is for changing a particular MBS channel and performs a BS-init DSC procedure for the terminal(507). The BS/BSC transmits a DSC-REQ message to the terminal(508). The terminal transmits a DSC-RSP message to the BS/BSD(509) and receives a DSC-ACK message(510). The terminal receives an MBS control message from the BS/BSC(511). The BS/BSC recognizes that the message is for terminating the particular MBS channel and performs BS-init DSC for the terminal(512). The BS/BSC transmits a DSC-REQ message to the terminal(513). The terminal transmits a DSC-RSP message to the BS/BSC(514) and receives a DSC-ACK message from the BS/BSC(515).
