TREHALOSE BIOSYNTHETIC GENE AND TRANSFORMED BACTERIAL STRAIN USING THEREOF

A method for synthesis of trehalose by using a recombinant microorganism containing a trehalose biosynthetic gene is provided to improve production yield of trehalose, so that the trehalose synthesized is useful for protecting biofilms, increasing stability of biologics, resistance against stresses, and remaining amount of flavor compound, preserving intrinsic properties of food, and moisturizing the skin. A trehalose biosynthetic gene salBF isolated from Streptomyces albus ATCC 21838 has the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO:8. A method for synthesis of trehalose comprises the steps of: preparing a recombinant plasmid vector pWBF containing the trehalose biosynthetic gene salBF of SEQ ID NO:8; transforming Streptomyces lividans with the recombinant plasmid vector pWBF; and culturing the transformed Streptomyces lividans. A food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic sugar composition contains trehalose.
