A microbicidal composition is provided to show enhanced microbicidal efficacy at a combined active ingredient level lower than that of the individual microbicides. A microbicidal composition comprises: 1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one; and benzoic acid or a salt thereof, wherein a weight ratio of the 1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one and the benzoic acid or the salt thereof is 1:1-2,000 and it has a synergetic index(SI) of less than 1.
