This invention provides a method for forming an image pattern on the surface of a metallic glass member, which can repeatedly form a reversal transfer pattern on the surface of a Zr-base, Ti-base, Cu-base, Ni-base or Fe-base metallic glass having a supercooled liquid temperature region of 400°C or above and having a moldable temperature of 400°C or above in a simple and efficient manner. The method is characterized by comprising (a) providing an image pattern in the form of bitmap information converted by mirror inversion relative to a real image, (b) then scanning high-energy density light (15) on the surface of a mold (20) while repeating micro-time on/off of the light to form a machined hole (24) of one dot per irradiation, whereby an image pattern according to the bitmap information is formed as a dot ensemble pattern (21) on the surface of the mold (20), and (c) further subjecting a metallic glass member (1) to reversal transfer molding of the dot ensemble pattern (21) in a supercooled liquid temperature region (Tg-Tx) using the mold (20) for ensemble pattern formation. |
