<p>The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for cutting and holding a warp in a weft knitting machine that can appropriately cut even a knitted fabric knitted with a warp fed from a warp insertion mechanism, and can hold the end yarn after the cutting. In a weft knitting machine (1) in which a warp (4) can be inserted, a cut target portion (14) is formed to intersect the warp (4) while reciprocating at an interval to a needle bed (6) in a longitudinal direction thereof by swing operation perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the needle bed (6) and lapping operation parallel with the longitudinal direction by a warp insertion mechanism (2). The warp (4) in which the cut target portion (14) is formed is hooked to one or a plurality of knitting needles (7b) and held in place. The warp (4) is then cut by causing a blade (15) moving in the longitudinal direction to act on the cut target portion (14) thus held. The warp (4) existing on the warp insertion mechanism (2) side from a cutting position of the cut target portion (14) is hooked to the knitting needle (7b) and held in place. Next knitting with the warp can be started with the warp end kept held.</p> |
