An image forming apparatus and a control method thereof are provided to vary a frequency of video data generated by being synchronized with a video clock, thereby effectively suppressing generation of radiation of electromagnetic waves and substantially preventing deterioration of image quality. An image forming apparatus has a video controller(500). The video controller varies a frequency of video data which is synchronized with a video clock and generated so as to correspond to printed image information. The video controller increases or reduces a pulse width of primarily-modulated video data so as to perform secondary modulation if a pulse type of the primarily-modulated video data is repeated. The video controller comprises a memory(510), an image processor(520), a modulator(530) and a ring oscillator(540). The ring oscillator provides plural tap signals having different phase difference times for the video clock. The modulator receives the tap signals and performs the secondary modulation.
