A ballast water treatment system is provided to protect marine ecosystems, reduce environmental and economical losses, and lower an installation cost and an operating cost of facilities by efficiently treating marine microorganisms presenting in ballast water. A ballast water treatment system comprises: a chlorination apparatus including a self-cleaning filter(20) for filtering suspended solids contained in seawater, an electrolyzer(30) for producing sodium hypochlorite by using seawater passing through the self-cleaning filter as a raw material, and a sodium hypochlorite tank(40) for storing seawater passing through the electrolyzer and injecting a predetermined quantity of sodium hypochlorite into the ballast water tank; and a ultrasonic wave-generating apparatus including an ultrasonic wave controller(80) and a ultrasonic wave generator(90) installed in the ballast water tank to sterilize ballast water and annihilate marine microorganisms contained in the ballast water. The ballast water treatment system further comprises: a seawater intake pump(10) for transferring seawater to a ballast water tank(50); a rectifier(60) for supplying a stable DC current to the electrolyzer; and a blower(70) for blowing an external air into the sodium hypochlorite tank to dilute hydrogen gas in the sodium hypochlorite tank and draw the diluted hydrogen gas out of the sodium hypochlorite tank. The self-cleaning filter includes an inlet, an outlet, a basket made of a stainless steel mesh, a vertically reciprocating cylinder, and a flushing valve. |
