FIELD: chemistry. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention pertains to the method of obtaining xylol vapour using selective methylation toluene, involving reaction of a mixture of reagents, containing toluene, methanol and additional water with a catalyst based on modified oxide of zeolite ZSM-5 in a flow reactor and with reaction time of the mixture of reagents and catalyst less than 1 second.
