Method for formation of an aluminium diffusion layer form oxidation protection

Production of an aluminum diffusion layer used as oxidation protection on metallic components of gas turbines comprises galvanically coating the component with pure aluminum in an organic electrolyte free from water and oxygen, removing the coating and heat-treating in a protective gas atmosphere or in a vacuum at a prescribed high temperature and time regime so that the aluminum diffuses into the component and the alloying components diffuse into the aluminum layer in opposing direction.
