APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR TRANSMITTING/RECEIVING SIGNAL IN A COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

An apparatus and a method for transmitting/receiving signals in a communication system are provided to minimize hardware complexity by supporting various coding rates by using a single codec. A coder(311) codes an information vector into a codeword vector by using a parity check matrix. A boring unit(313) outputs the codeword vector according to a coding rate to be used or bores the codeword vector. A controller(315) generates the parity check matrix of an LDPC(Low Density Parity Check) code according to the coding rate, and controls the boring unit to output the codeword vector according to the coding rate or bore the codeword vector. If the coding rate is the first coding rate, the controller generates a pre-set first parity check matrix as the parity check matrix. If the coding rate is the second coding rate higher than the first coding rate, the controller generates the second parity check matrix supporting the second coding rate and generates the second parity check matrix as the parity check matrix.
