A microbicidal composition is provided to show increased microbicidal effect at a combined active ingredient level lower than that of the individual microbicides by comprising 1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one and sodium hydroxymethylglycinate in combination. A microbicidal composition comprises 1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one and sodium hydroxymethylglycinate. The composition is characterized in that the weight ratio of the 1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one and the sodium hydroxymethylglycinate is 1:20-150 and it has a synergetic index(SI) of less than 1.
