A device 1 for holding flower stems comprising tubular portions which each have at least one resiliently and/or flexibly deflectable or deformable wall or base portion 4 to grippingly engage the stem. The tubular portions 3 are of a depth/length and/or dimension such that the side walls may also support a stem. The tubular portions 3 can be circular (fig 15) or hexagonally (fig 1,4) shaped having smooth sides with the same cross sectional area from top to bottom or can taper inwards (fig16). The resiliently engaging portion 4 can be formed from slots in flaps which extend from the tube walls or, when the tubular portion tapers in, are slits or slots cut into the tube wall(22; fig 16). The tubular portion may be integrally formed with adjacent tubes sharing common wall portions such that a honeycomb structure is formed. Alternatively, the tubular portions are joined by partial crosspieces which may include a plurality of slits to aid flexibility (fig 15). The device can be curved or crowned to enhance the arrangement of the flowers and is attached to a vase by clips or hooks. |
