A coating applicator comprising a disposable substrate 104 removably mounted to a reusable frame 122, where the frame includes an actuator 146 repositionable between an engaging position and a disengaging position, where the engaging position is operative to maintain the substrate in mounting engagement with the frame, where the disengaging position is operative to discontinue the substrate in mounting engagement with the frame, and where the substrate includes a receptor for retaining a coating composition for application such as a pad or carpet comprising upstanding fibres. The applicator may include a guide having a straight edge, the guide being positionable between an edging position and a withdrawn position. A handle 124 may be rotatable to discrete positions with respect to the frame. The substrate may include a force regulator to inhibit transferring a force above a predetermined force from the frame to the substrate. |
