A kimchi refrigerator and its control method are provided to allow a compulsory defrosting operation to be performed in the conversion into an aging mode. A method for controlling a kimchi refrigerator comprises the steps of: judging if a store mode is converted into an aging mode; and then performing a compulsory defrosting operation if so. A kimchi refrigerator comprises: a main body equipped with a storage room, an air blowing fan for moving the air in the storage room; a defrosting heater for defrosting an evaporator; and a control part for controlling the air blowing fan and defrosting heater. The control part operates the defrosting heater and air blowing fan for a set time, if a store mode is converted into an aging mode.
