An OFDM transmitting/receiving system and a method thereof are provided to efficiently compensate a PAPR(Peak to Average Power Ratio) by applying an optimum peak reduction kernel regardless of the position change of a reserved tone. An OFDM transmitting/receiving system includes a data processing unit(110), a storage unit(130), and a compensation unit(120). The data processing unit generates a transmission signal by using a plurality of tones having a reserved tone. The storage unit stores peak reduction kernel information corresponding to a data symbol type. The compensation unit checks the peak reduction kernel corresponding to the data symbol type to be transmitted, and modulates the peak reduction kernel to the reserved tone of the transmission signal. The data processing unit changes the data symbol type by adjusting a position of an additive data tone on which additional information is loaded according to a predetermined sequence.
