A method for managing file information is provided to activate/use a library of A/V(Audio/Video) files like music by using a structure of an A/V library like a PC folder structure, and enable a user familiar to the PC folder structure to browse or search the file easily in a terminal by using the library in the structure like the PC folder structure. A folder structure for receiving attribute information of each file is set in a header section of each file(S1201). A database is constructed by inputting corresponding information to the file attribute information included in the header section(S1202). The database constructed in a sender side is hierarchically structured in a predetermined style by using the folder structure and the hierarchically structured database is transferred to a receiver side(S1206).
