A fireplace for heating a room using the combustion heat of solid fuel is provided to enable the easy ignition of the solid fuel and improve combustion performance and heating power by installing a grate in an ash discharge hole opened to an ashpan. A fireplace(100) includes a housing(110), a support plate(120), an ashpan(130), and a chimney(140). The housing defines a combustion chamber(111) to burn solid fuel(1). The solid fuel is put on the support plate in the combustion chamber of the housing, and an ash discharge hole(121) for discharging burnt ashes and a grill are installed in the support plate. The ashpan is provided under the support plate and collects the ashes discharged through the ash discharge hole. When the ashpan is opened, the ashpan serves as a path for introducing the air into the ash discharge hole. The chimney extends long from the housing. A grate(123) is integrated with the lower portion of the support plate, and is installed under the ash discharge hole in such a way that the upper portion of the grate has a relatively large sectional area and the lower portion has a relatively small sectional area. |
