DISPLAY SUBSTRATE AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME

A display substrate and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to manufacture the display substrate by using a simplified manufacturing process through three sheet mask processes and improve a wide viewing angle by forming an opening pattern in a pixel electrode of the display substrate. Gate lines are formed on a base substrate(101). A gate insulating layer(120) is formed on the base substrate where the gate lines are formed. Source lines are formed on the gate insulating layer, and define a pixel area by crossing the gate lines. A pixel electrode(PE) is formed by directly contacting with the gate insulating layer of the pixel area, and includes an opening pattern(OP). A gate pad unit(GP) includes a gate pad(115) and a first pad electrode(163). A source pad unit(DP) includes a source pad(145) and a second pad electrode(165). A switching device(TFT) includes a gate electrode(111), a source electrode(141) and a drain electrode(143).
