An iron lump forming apparatus is provided to prevent fatigue degrees of the compression drums from increasing while increasing the amount of an iron lump produced per one revolution of the compression drums even with compression drums with the same material, durability and compression force as conventional compression drums. In an iron lump forming apparatus comprising a pair of main shafts(103,104) rotated in opposite directions by power generated from at least one drive motor(102) installed on a top part of a base plate(101), and compression drums(106) which are axially connected to ends of the main shafts by couplings(105) and oppositely rotated in a state that outer peripheral surfaces of the compression drums are in contact with each other, and which form the metal powder into a lump with a predetermined size continuously by continuously supplying from a hopper(107) to contact faces of the compression drums, the iron lump forming apparatus is characterized in that: at least two or more rows of forming grooves(108) are adjacently formed and circumferentially spaced apart from one another in a predetermined distance along the outer peripheral surfaces of the compression drums in a way that the forming grooves face side ends of the compression drums; and other row of forming grooves formed adjacently to one row of forming grooves are formed such that a lateral central line of the forming grooves of the other row is arranged on a lateral central line on a distance spaced between forming grooves of the one row.
