A thin film transistor and a liquid crystal display device having the same are provided to maintain constant charging ratio for outermost gate lines and other gate lines by forming a dummy pattern on a dummy region of the gate lines. Plural gate lines(110a,110b) are formed to be elongated in one direction. Plural data lines(130a,130b,130c) are formed to be elongated to cross the gate lines. A pixel electrode(160) is formed in a pixel region, which is defined by the gate and data lines. Plural TFTs(120) are connected to the data and gate lines and formed in the pixel region. A dummy pattern(200) is formed to be connected to outermost data lines and the gate lines outside the outermost data lines of the data lines. The pixel region is defined to be longer in the gate line direction than the data line direction.
