An internal voltage generator of a semiconductor integrated circuit is provided to generate an internal voltage regardless of the variation of an external voltage. A comparison part(10) outputs a comparison signal by comparing an internal voltage with a reference voltage. An internal voltage generation part(20) generates the internal voltage in response to the comparison signal. A voltage stabilizing part(30) controls driving capability of the comparison part by receiving an external voltage. The voltage stabilizing part is connected between the comparison part and a ground stage. The voltage stabilizing part has an external voltage detector generating a voltage detection signal by detecting the level of the external voltage and a driving part controlling the driving capability of the comparison part in response to the detection signal.
