<p>A location registration method using base station codes in a mobile communication system and an apparatus thereof are provided to offer a location based service using cell information, not GPS(Global Positioning System) information, by making a mobile terminal execute location registration to an HLR(Home Location Register) when the mobile terminal reaches a place where the PN(Pseudo-Noise) code or PSC(Primary Synchronization Code) of a specific base station is received and providing a previously registered service. A mobile terminal monitors whether a PN code is received from a base station. In case the mobile terminal reaches a position where the PN code is received, the mobile terminal transmits a location registration request message to an HLR(202). Receiving the location registration request message, the HLR confirms the indicator of the location registration request message and transmits a service notification message to an associated server(204). The server transmits a short message or moving picture data to the mobile terminal in order to provide service information, such as famous restaurant information, to the mobile terminal(206).</p> |
