A method (M1) for the production of objects from thin films, involves (a) making a liquid phase containing, in a solvent, an elastomer containing a triblock copolymer in which at least one of the blocks is mainly derived from an acrylate monomer, (b) depositing the liquid as a film on a preform of the object to be produced, (c) removing the solvent by evaporation and (d) solidifying the film to give a solid elastic film on the preform. Independent claims are also included for (1) a method (M2) for the production of objects as above in which the preform is dipped in a bath of latex in the form of an aqueous emulsion of elastomeric polymer as in M1, then the coated preform is removed, the water is evaporated and the film is solidified by heating (2) a method (M3) which is similar to M2 except that a solution of polymer in organic solvent is used instead of latex (3) a method (M4) in which the liquid phase (aqueous emulsion or organic solution) is sprayed onto a hot preform so that the solvent evaporates and the film solidifies .
