Disclosed is an aqueous polyvinylpyrrolidone solution which enables to produce a transparent hair gel free of white turbidity or coloration. Specifically disclosed is an aqueous polyvinylpyrrolidone solution for a hair gel, which is intended to be mixed with an aqueous alkali-thickening polymer solution to produce a transparent hair gel. The aqueous polyvinylpyrrolidone solution for a hair gel is characterized by comprising a tertiary amine and ammonia.
