<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which does not charge a user for printing for the inspection of the image forming apparatus thereby can be easily and surely subjected to sufficient inspection. <P>SOLUTION: In the inspection process of an image forming apparatus, a memory card stored with an inspection program is mounted on a printer, and the inspection program is operated. When the inspection program is under operation, it is judged that the inspection process is being performed. When a serviceman instructs printing with an inspection command by a panel operation, it is also judged that the inspection process is under operation. In the inspection process, a charging counter is not increased. When the inspection process is not under operation, the count value of the charging counter is changed according to the number of image-formed paper sheet faces, and the charging information is calculated based on the count value.
