<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To confirm a shift to a low power consumption mode and simultaneously, to suppress power consumption, even when the shift is incomplete. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus has such a configuration that when the shift to the low power consumption mode is performed, the frequency of a low-power-consumption control signal is compared with the frequency of the drive signal of a high-sensitivity element driven by receiving the low-power-consumption control signal and when the frequency of the low-power-consumption control signal does not coincide with the frequency of the drive signal of the high-sensitivity element, a cooling means is driven to suppress the increase of the operation frequency of a power supply and the rise of temperature in a machine as well. In addition, the image forming apparatus has a low-power-consumption drive circuit in a power supply voltage line and has such a configuration that the voltage of the latter part of the low-power-consumption drive circuit is detected when the shift to the low power consumption mode is performed. The detected voltage is compared with a threshold voltage, so that it is confirmed whether the shift to the low power consumption mode is as expected and when the shift is not as expected, a power supply voltage is forcibly dropped to suppress the power consumption. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
