PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique which enables the precise estimation of a true value from the echo height or the like obtained from a reflected wave by irradiating a region to be measured with an ultrasonic wave. SOLUTION: A focus type ultrasonic probe 1 is moved with respect to a receiving probe 7, which has a vibrator diameter less than a focus diameter, fixed at its focal distance, the sound pressure distribution within the focus diameter averaged in a separate probe is acquired to be displayed by the function of tracing the averaged sound pressure distribution only with two constants, averaged echo height is acquired on the basis of a reflected wave signal received while moving the probe 1 with respect to a reference test surface 10 known in its shape, the variable of the function is finely adjusted so that the waveform of the echo height corresponds to the shape of the reference test surface 10 to operate the true sound pressure distribution data in the focus diameter, the echo height is acquired by the reflected wave signal received while moving the probe 1 with respect to the region 2 to be measured and the averaged echo height obtained from the region 2 to be measured is subjected to correction operation based on the true sound pressure distribution to acquire the true value of the echo height on a sound axis.
