PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bristle for a brush which is excellent in a cleaning property and has durability as well, and the brush using the bristle. SOLUTION: For the bristle for the brush, a tapered part is formed at least one end of the bristle composed of a synthetic resin monofilament, the cross sectional shape vertical to a fiber axis direction of the tapered part is a modified cross section and is spirally twisted in the longitudinal direction, and the cross sectional shape of a main body part other than the tapered part is a non-modified cross section.
