PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst deterioration inhibition device for an internal combustion engine capable of inhibiting generation of exhaust gas pressure loss.

SOLUTION: The catalyst deterioration inhibition device for the internal combustion engine provided with a catalyst device 14 for exhaust emission control provided in an exhaust system and a water injection device 16 dropping temperature of the catalyst device by water injection is provided with a water injection quantity adjusting means adjusting water injection quantity in accordance with the exhaust gas temperature upstream of the catalyst device 14 when water is injected by the water injection device 16.
