PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor-driven pump to be used as a water pump at a reduced manufacturing cost. SOLUTION: The motor-driven pump includes a stator 21 forming a rotating magnetic field, a rotor 40 placed in the stator 21 and rotated, a casing 12 connected to the stator 21 to form a pumping chamber 11, and an impeller 48 which rotates integrally with the rotor 40 in the pumping chamber 11. The stator 21, together with a protective cylinder 24, is formed of a resin by insert-molding. The impeller 48, together with the boss 41 of the rotor 40, is integrally formed of the resin. A contact of the stator with water can be inhibited by the protective cylinder 24. Thus, a can, which divides the rotor-installation environment from the stator-installation environment can be eliminated, and the manufacturing cost can be reduced by a reduction of the parts count and a man-hour.
