PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a reduced metal where, upon the production of a reduced metal using a moving type hearth furnace, a reduced metal of high quality can be efficiently produced even if furnace temperature is lowered. SOLUTION: In the method for producing a reduced metal, when a mixed raw material 2 composed of a metal-containing material, a solid reducing agent, a slag forming material or the like is powdered or agglomerated, is charged to the surface of a moving bed 11 in a moving type hearth furnace 1, is heated while the moving bed moves inside the furnace, and is reduced, so as to produce a reduced product, thereafter, melting is performed, and, a slag component is separated, so as to produce a reduced metal, a carbonaceous material having a wide intercrystal distance Lc is used in the mixed raw material.
