Atmospheric gas burners.-In a burner comprising a block of refractory material 9 provided with passages 8 within which a gas-air mixture is completely burned so as to heat the block to incandescence, air or gas supplied through tubes 5 having venturi nozzles 7 draws gas or air into the passages 8 and the mixture formed between the end of the nozzles and the middle of the passages is immediately burned in the combustion chambers 13, 13<1>, or 13<2> formed by the outer end of the passages, The tubes 5 may be provided either, or both internally and externally with rifling or spiral vanes 6 or ribs 11. The chamber 4 is arranged within the chamber 2 so that, when preheated air is supplied through the former, the gas is heated while passing through the latter. The block may be constructed of two separate parts 9<1>, 9<2> so that only the upper part 9<1> need be replaced, when it becomes worn. |
