<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter for a display apparatus which can improve the visible-light transmittance and contrast ratio of brightness/darkness, and to provide a display apparatus containing the filter. <P>SOLUTION: The filter 100 for the display apparatus comprises a filter base 270 and an external light shielding layer 230 which is formed on one surface of the filter base 270 and is equipped with a substrate 234 made of a transparent resin material, and a large number of wedge-shaped black stripes 236, arranged in parallel with one other on one surface of the substrate 234.
