<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal panel and a liquid crystal display which have excellent screen contrast and less color shift. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal panel is provided with a liquid crystal cell, a first polarizer disposed on one side of the liquid crystal cell and a second polarizer disposed on the other side of the liquid crystal cell. The liquid crystal panel is further provided with a first optical compensation layer wherein a refractive index ellipsoid shows a relationship of nx>ny=nz and in-plane retardation Re<SB>1</SB>is 80 to 300 nm, a second optical compensation layer wherein a refractive index ellipsoid shows a relationship of nx>ny=nz and in plane retardation Re<SB>2</SB>is 80 to 200 nm and a third optical compensation layer wherein a refractive index ellipsoid shows a relationship of nx=ny>nz which are disposed sequentially from the first polarizer side between the liquid crystal cell and the first polarizer. The liquid crystal panel is further provided with a fourth optical compensation layer wherein a refractive index ellipsoid shows a relationship of nz>nx=ny, a fifth optical compensation layer wherein a refractive index ellipsoid shows a relationship of nx>ny=nz and in-plane retardation Re<SB>5</SB>is 80 to 200 nm and a sixth optical compensation layer wherein a refractive index ellipsoid shows a relationship of nx=ny>nz which are disposed sequentially from the second polarizer side between the liquid crystal cell and the second polarizer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
