PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resonance sound generator constituted more rationally. SOLUTION: A resonance sound generator having a resonance sound generating element 100, a hammer 200, and a driving means 300 for driving the hammer and generating resonance sound by the hammer hammering the resonance sound generating element is provided with: a muffling body 400 for stopping the resonance sound by abutting on the resonance sound generating element; and a muffling body abutting means 500 for making the muffling body abut on the resonance sound generating element. The hammer is biased toward a prescribed stop position and moved from the stop position by the driving means so as to hammer the resonance sound generating element, and the muffling body is moved away from the resonance sound generating element by an impact involved in hammering. The muffling body abutting means is linked with the hammer, and the muffling body is made to abut on the resonance sound generating element by setting the hammer at the stop position and moving the muffling body toward the resonance sound generating element and abutting.
