PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an embroidery machine capable of sewing by selectively switching cording with a zigzag stitch quickly without trouble even when a single embroidery machine can continuously sew cords and perform zigzag stitches. SOLUTION: By putting a link means into a link state, a presser foot lift mechanism is used to move a presser foot up and down and a direction determining turning mechanism is used to turn the presser foot in a range necessary for determining the direction; a guide member is turned back and forth by a guide driving means in the range necessary for determining the direction; the link means is shut down to move the presser foot up and down by using the presser foot lift mechanism and the direction determination rotating mechanism is used to turn the presser foot in the range necessary for determining the direction; and the guide member is turned back and forth by the guide driving means in the range necessary for a zigzag movement.
