PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent occurrence of any failure due to conveyance by an ADF (auto document feeder). SOLUTION: When predetermined conditions are satisfied by read setting, the operation of the ADF is inhibited. Thus, it is possible to prevent occurrence of such a failure that an original may be damaged in conveying the original by the ADF, or that the original may not be accurately read by an automatic reading window.
