PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous body manufacturing method for obtaining a porous body which suppresses a fall in adsorption function of a porous functional material such as activated carbon kneaded in a paste adhesive (resin material) and has an improvement in adsorption effect, and to provide a composite material prepared by making the porous body obtained by the method support on a carrier. SOLUTION: The porous body manufacturing method incudes: the preparation step of preparing at least the porous functional material 12, a liquid 14 evaporated by heating, and the paste adhesive 16; the adsorption step of making the porous functional material 12 adsorb the liquid 14 evaporated by heating; and the kneading step of kneading the porous functional material 12 adsorbed with the liquid 14 evaporated by heating and the paste adhesive 16 to obtain a kneaded material 18; and the heat treatment step of heating the kneaded material 18 to evaporate the liquid 14 evaporated by heating and adsorbed by the porous functional material 12, to thereby harden the paste adhesive agent 16.
