PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a supported catalyst of a high activity sufficient for industrial application that can be prepared at a reduced cost. SOLUTION: The supported catalyst is prepared by depositing an active component in a form of microparticles of a nanometer size onto the surface of a molded base material 2 using a spattering method. The base material 2 is a zeolite support or an alumina support molded into a pellet form. The active component preferably is one of the following: a platinum-ruthenium alloy, sodium, platinum, nickel, cobalt, iron, zinc oxide, copper oxide, and nickel oxide. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
