The invention relates to a method and device for using a moulding or setting system of the type that involves the use of a deformable sealed chamber (2) which includes a membrane (3), is connected to a vacuum source (5) and contains particles (4) which agglomerate under vacuum conditions in the chamber (2). The inventive method comprises the following steps in which: the part (1) from which an impression is to be taken is placed on the deformable sealed chamber (2) containing the particles (4), the part (1) is covered with a sealed wall (10) so that it is trapped between the wall (10) and the membrane (3) of the deformable chamber (2), a first vacuum is applied in the area between the wall (10) and the deformable chamber (2) so that the membrane (3) of the deformable chamber is applied against the contours of the part (1) and the part thus covered is pressed into the particles (4), a second vacuum is applied in the deformable chamber (2) so that pressure is applied against the particles (4) in contact with the part (1) and the impression of the part in the deformable chamber (2) sets, the first vacuum between the sealed wall (10) and the deformable chamber (2) is released, and the sealed wall is removed.
