PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can inexpensively manage security information about electronic documents before and after document merging.

SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus comprises a storage means for storing input electronic documents, a merging means (Step S1602) for merging a plurality of electronic documents stored in the storage means, and means (Step S1603 to Step S1605) for assigning a plurality of pieces of attribute information to the electronic documents and renewing the attribute information when the electronic documents are merged by the merging means.
