LAYERED WAVEGUIDE TYPE THREE DIMENSIONAL RECORDING MEDIUM, INFORMATION RECORDING METHOD, AND INFORMATION REPRODUCING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform additional recording and rewriting recording of partial information to one recording layer without rerecording the whole of the recording layer in a layered waveguide type recording medium.

SOLUTION: In the layered waveguide type recording medium 1, core layers 3 guiding light, recording layers 4 constituted of a two photon absorption material and clad layers 2 are layered in a multiple shape. In the recording layer 4, recording of information for every bit unit is performed by changing a refractive index of the two photon absorption material in a region predetermined for every bit unit. When reproduction is performed, scattered light is emitted from a recording region in the layer of one recording layer 4 by making plane light incident from an end surface of the core layer 3 and reproduction of information in two-dimensional bit units is performed by imaging the emitted scattered light.
