PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce shocks generated when a friction engaging element engages by reducing the rotating speed of a rotating element while maintaining the condition in which a vehicle is stopped. SOLUTION: This automatic transmission comprises a hub 3700 as one of the rotating elements of a planetary gear unit, a B2 brake 3620 for restricting the rotation of the hub 3700 during engagement, and a hydraulic circuit 4000 for injecting oil to the hub 3700 when a non-travel position is selected as a shift position.
